Healthy Body Workshop In Mountaindale
Core Alignment & Breathing are Key to a Great
Workout!
Many of the
critical benefits of a great workout can be lost by not paying
attention to simple details like proper body alignment and proper
breathing. The Mountaindale Community Development Project hosted a
special workshop last month to teach participants how to get the
most out of their daily routine. Whether you are exercising in a gym
or at home, keeping your core in alignment is vital for good long
term body health. Janet Gula, owner of Radiant Yoga in Mountaindale
taught a section of the program which helped develop habits of
alignment, and smooth flow of motion. Many experts also agree that
it is important to correctly breathe through your exercises. Many
people make the mistake of holding their breath while focusing on
their technique. Alexandra Lalieu of Upstate Karate of Mountaindale
taught the second portion of the workshop, which covered Moo Pahl
Dan Khum. This is an ancient Chinese breathing meditation performed
through a sequence of balanced exercises that promote circulation
within body systems and are designed to stretch, tone, and move
energy through the body.
The workshop was presented at 7:15PM
at 81 Main Street in Mountaindale on Wednesday, October 27th at a
fee of $10 per participant. Program lasted approximately 1 1/2
hours. All adults and teens were welcome. Light refreshments were
served. Participants wore loose comfortable clothing and were
barefoot during the exercises. No prior experience was required. If
you missed this wonderful workshop and would like to be notified
about future similar events, please call Barb Schmitt at
